Gov. Roel Degamo is urging Negrenses to help convince the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to approve his request for authority to avail of a P400 million loan package so the construction of the Central Block building can proceed.
He said his request has been pending before the SP for so many months now, for reasons “only the SP members know”.
The completion of the Central Block building will ease the congestion of patients at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital, Degamo said, adding that it is overcrowded with almost 500 patients, although the authorized capacity is only 250.
Surgery patients and new deliveries are crowding the hallways, which is inhumane for them, Degamo said.
He added that the SP members should see for themselves the actual situation in the provincial hospital. “Set aside political differences for the good of those who badly need the facility,” Degamo told the SP.
The governor said he is also worried about too much delay in the release of a P100-million funding promised by the Department of Health Manila.*JG
