The Negros Oriental government is seriously considering to bid for the hosting of the 2012 Palarong Pambansa, despite the stringent requirements that include providing contingents with rice, and other needs.

Gov. Roel Degamo said he is aware that other local governments have more to offer in terms of logistics, but his administration can offer a complete line of sports facilities from the rubberized oval of the Mariano Perdices Memorial Coliseum, the Olympic-size Lorenzo G. Teves Aqua Center, the Lamberto Macias Sports Complex, and the convention center which also has a 45-room hotel for accommodation, among others.

This is not to mention the cooperation expected from universities and colleges in the city and the province who will allow the use of their sports facilities, Degamo said.

This developed after Eduction Secretary Armin Luistro had seen these facilities during a stopover in Dumaguete Saturday.

Luistro was toured by the governor to the sports facilities, and that his positive comments bolster the bid of the province to host the 2012 Palarong Pambansa.

Negros Oriental bidded for the Palaro during the time of then Gov. Emilio Macias II since 1994, without success.*JG
