NEGROS ORIENTAL, April 7 (PIA) – To make the Negrenses aware on the importance of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a Multi-Sectoral Forum on ASEAN will be held on April 18 at 1:00 p.m. at Silliman University, Dumaguete City.

 

 

Some 120 various sectors in the province are expected to participate in the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Negros Oriental-led ASEAN Forum which include students, local government unit officials, and national line agencies, information officers, non-government organizations, and members of the local media.

 

The activity intends to drum up support to the Philippines’ chairmanship of the ASEAN this year.

 

Topics to be discussed in the forum include Philippine chairmanship of ASEAN 2017, positive impact of the ASEAN and how this opens opportunities for all Filipinos as well as presentation of President’s programs for the Visayas area with Sec. Michael Lloyd Dino of the Office of the Presidential Adviser for the Visayas.

 

Other issues to tackle include challenges and accomplishments of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Executive Order, and NEDA’s Ambisyon Natin 2040, among others.

 

PIA Director General Harold Clavite will grace the event together with Governor Roel Degamo and Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo.
