Organizers of this year’s Buglasan Festival of Festivals are eyeing a total of P7.1 million as the collective budget for this year’s festival.

Said amount is sourced from the province’s annual regular Buglasan budget and festival sponsors.

Gov. Roel Degamo in a press conference said the province’s annual regular budget for Buglasan Festival is at P2 million. He augmented it with another P2 million as additional funds for this year’s festival while the expected income from festival sponsors is around P3.1 million.

The governor sits as this year’s festival director with Dr. Nichol R. Elman as his co-director.

As of this writing, Dr. Elman said there are 87 activities lined up for the festival, of which 12 are sports-related.

Some of the festival’s highlights are the LGU-Industrial Booth/Exhibits/Gimmicks at the Freedom Park, and the Buglasan Festival of Festivals Showdown and Streetdance on October 19, 2012.

To date, seven local government units (LGUs) have confirmed their participation to the LGU-Industrial booth/exhibit/gimmicks.

Said LGUs are, namely: Canlaon City, Mabinay, Sibulan, Dumaguete City, Dauin, Valencia, and Siaton.

New activities have also been added to this year’s roster of activities such as the 1st Buglasan Flag Football Cup and the Visayas Acrobatics Show, both of which are scheduled on Oct. 19. (RMN/PIA Negros Oriental)
