Negros Oriental Governor Roel Ragay Degamo inaugurated various infrastructure projects in Guihulngan City recently.

Governor Degamo was joined in by City Mayor Guido Reyes for the inauguration of the road improvement project, the concreting of road project and the drainage system project all in Guihulngan City.

The first to be inaugurated was the five-million peso road improvement project along the Luz-Linantuyan road.

Governor Degamo immediately allocated funds for the project since he is aware that the road is very vital for the people in the hinterland barangays of Guihulngan which have been cited to have the presence of armed groups.

Governor Degamo said the said road is very important particularly to Barangay Luz which hosts the community primary hospital and to Barangay Linantuyan which has recently been taken back by the government from the hands of the New People’s Army.

Meanwhile, other government projects such as school buildings, among others, are also being presently implemented in the city.

The governor, on the other hand, is happy with the road concreting along some portions of the Linantuyan road funded by the national government through the Department of Public Works and Highways.

He explained that the Luz-Linatuyan road is considered a national highway but he recognizes the need for the provincial government to provide support as it is very vital facility in order to bring about various developments in the hinterlands of Guihulngan City.

“Tinuod national highway ni apan dali kita nga nibutang ug pondo dinhi tungod kay sa taas nga panahon, dili gyod maayo ang kondisyon niining maong dalan ug malisod kaayo ang pagdala sa mga serbisyo sa kagamhanan alang sa kabukiran sa dakbayan Guihulngan. Ilabi na gayod sa mga mag-uuma nga kinsa matag karon ug unya motumod sa ilang mga abot sa umahan paingon sa lungsod,” the governor said.

Other projects that were inaugurated were the 1.5 million-peso drainage system implemented in Barangay Poblacion, Guihulngan City and the 300 thousand peso road concreting project in Barangay Tinayunan  in Guihulngan City.

Governor Degamo said all these projects were made possible in cooperation with the city government of Guihulngan.
