Gov. Roel Degamo on Tuesday signed an agreement with 11 new scholars of the provincial government under the province’s Medicine Scholarship program.

The new scholars were accepted following their successful passing of screening and a series of examinations conducted earlier.

The new scholars, comprising the 9th batch, are Gil Aurus Alcoran, Christian Dave Docto, Honey Rose Duran, L. Angelique Gene Duran, Abigail Fausto,MaebenXyza Marie Ho, Ruzz Jeremy Montejo, Eduardo NelOira, Rem Lace Reyes, Jollibee Sabalon and Leana Rae Sumagang.

The eleven scholars, majority of whom graduated cum laude with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Nursing at Silliman University, are now enrolled at the university’s School of Medicine.

Other scholars are graduates of Saint Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD) and Sablaon from the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU).

Originally, twelve medical school scholars for school year were pegged at 12 but one of them failed to submit her transcript of records in time for enrollment.

Governor Degamo urged the new scholars to strive hard and hurdle any obstacles as the province is in dire need of medical doctors.

The MOA signing at the governor’s office was also witnessed by Board Member Edmund Dy, chairman of the Committee on Education, SK Federation President Scot Wayne Husain, Provincial Treasurer Danilo Mendez and Provincial Administrator Arnel Francisco.

The scholars’ parents were also present in the same activity. (PNA/JFP)
