Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo yesterday reported the achievements of his administration in the province after 23 months.

He said the province received four recognitions from the Department of Interior and Local Government – the 4 th Best Implementing Province in the country, the Seal of Good Housekeeping, the Gawad Pamana ng Lahi Award and the Seal of Disaster Preparedness.

He said typhoons “Sendong” and “Pablo” caused much devastation on the lives and properties of the people, and the provincial government continues to rebuild the damaged communities with financial assistance from the national government and public and private donors.

He thanked the people and the members of the media for their crucial role in giving early warnings of incoming typhoons through radio and advisories.

He said it has always been the practice of his administration to focus on the positive to rise up from the bad to maintain positive vibes because there are still lot of things to do to achieve the ultimate goal of total peace and development in the province.

Degamo said one achievement of Negros Oriental was winning the bid to host the Palarong Pambansa next year after several attempts. He said they are now the process of putting all preparations in place, and the initial release of P15 million from the provincial government to fund the sports endeavor has been made.*RG
