Fifteen teams will vie for the 1st Governor’s Cup inter-town basketball tournament, which will be participated in by three districts of Negros Oriental to promote sportsmanship and team spirit in the province. 

Under the schedule of Negros Oriental Sports Development Program (NOSDEP), the game for the first opening is set on May 5 for the 3rd district elimination in Basay. 

Provincial Governor Roel Degamo will grace the opening program to introduce the sports at 4:00 p.m. before the game proper starts in Basay. 

The municipal teams of Basay vs Valencia will start to play at 6:00 p.m. for the first event at Basay Gymnasium. 

Competing teams include from Basay, Siaton, Zamboanguita, Dauin, and Valencia for the 3rd district; cities of Guihulngan, Tanjay, Dumaguete and Bayawan to compete for the city elimination. 

Towns of Vallehermoso, Tayasan, and Manjuyod of the 1st district; Mabinay, San Jose and Amlan of the 2nd district. 

City elimination is scheduled on May 6 with the teams of Guihulngan vs Tanjay to at 6:00 p.m. at Lamberto Macias Sports Center. 

On May 7, the first district elimination will be held at Vallehermoso Gymnasium with teams of Vallehermoso vs Manjuyod. 

This particular event is in preparations for the scheduled Philippine National Games on May 26 to June 3. 

For second district elimination on May 8, the teams San Jose vs Mabinay will play at San Jose Gym. 

Local basketball aficionados in the municipalities are invited to witness the series of games set in its respective district in Negros Oriental. (mbcn/JCT/PIA-Negros Oriental)
