The Negros Oriental Provincial Capitol has opened a cellphone text line for the public to report offices under the Provincial Government that are practicing red tape. The public can now text their complaints about red tape cases within Provincial Government offices through 0908-119-7165.
The move was initiated by Gov. Emilio Macias II, in line with Republic Act 9485, or the "Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007", to help enhance the country's competitiveness. The complaints they receive will be used as basis for internal action on Capitol offices that are possibly practicing red tape. The text messages received will also be forwarded to the respective offices concerned. The text line is just an initial step as the provincial government intends to create an anti-red tape committee. A complaints desk will be set up at the lobby of the Capitol building. The provincial government is assuring the public that it will not tolerate red tape. Provincial government employees were earlier put on two shifts under the Basta NegOr 9124 program of Macias, extending office hours to reduce the backlog of papers at Capitol offices.(with reports from Rene Genove-VDS) |
