Renaming of NOPH after Macias pushed |

The proposed ordinance renaming the present Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital into the Governor Emilio C. Macias II Provincial Hospital has unearthed more accomplishments of the late governor in the improvement of the Negros Oriental health system.
A public hearing was held Wednesday at the Sanguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall by the author of the ordinance, Board Member Liland Estacion, who is also a medical doctor by profession. At the public hearing were Dr. Dante Domingo, chief of the Provincial Hospital System, Dr. Felix Sy, head of NOPH, members of non-government organizations and other Board Members.

Boosted by the opinion of an acknowledged legal luminary in province and a fellow member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, BM Dr. Liland Estacion (1st District) is moving ahead with her proposal to rename the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital as Dr. Emilio “Dodo” Macias Hospital despite some reservations of her colleagues who want the proponent to reconcile her proposal with the guidelines of the National Historical Institute.

NegOr qualifies for more districts |

Negros Oriental is now qualified to add two districts more to make it five, Rep. George Arnaiz (Neg. Or., 2nd District) said.
Arnaiz was responding to suggestions about it so the province can get additional funding for priority projects.
However, it all depends on the three incumbent representatives and if they will allow a smaller coverage for their districts.
Arnaiz said he has no problem about chopping the province into five districts, with a population of over 1.3 million.

Governor Agustin Perdices wants to have the re-channeling of the Siaton River completed before the floods come, after an ocular inspection yesterday with Mayor Albert Ator and representatives from agencies tasked to do the work
Perdices assured the immediate deployment of heavy equipment to include a bulldozer, backhoe and a payloader to the site, while Mayor Ator promised to provide the crude oil requirement for the heavy equipment.

Perdices to inspect Siaton River |

Governor Agustin Perdices will inspect Siaton River Thursday in Siaton, Negros Oriental, particularly the damaged area that needs rehabilitation.
The rechanneling project for Siaton River was among the hottest issue in the previous administration because of the divided stand of the people in the area.
To be with Perdices in the inspection are Provincial Engineer Suzano Ruperto and Siaton Mayor Albert Ator. Perdices said the ocular survey of the area will help them draw up plans to address the problem, especially during this rainy season when most of the residents fear the flooding of Siaton River.
