Negros Oriental Gov. Agustin Perdices yesterday met with provincial officials and five town mayors of areas where farm-to-market roads amounting to P15 million will be constructed to prevent the funding allocation to be returned to the national government.
Perdices said the unliquidated amount was earlier earmarked for farm-to-market roads under a program of the Department of Agriculture since 2008 until the current year.
The local government units and their corresponding budgets for the farm-to-market roads are Bindoy, P5-million, Mabinay and Sta. Catalina, P3-million each, Siaton and Zamboanguita, P2-million each.

……vows to continue the projects of the late Governor Emilio C. Macias II
Former Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices finally assumed office as the new Chief Executive of the Province of Negros Oriental. The former Dumaguete City Mayor, who won as vice governor in the last elections, took his oath of office yesterday during the inauguration rites held at the Negros Oriental Convention Center.
Gov. Perdices assumed the governorship as a result of the untimely death of the late Governor Emilio C. Macias II a month after the latter was proclaimed winner in the May 10, 2010 national and local elections due to cancer.
Governor Perdices’ assumption to office came after a period of confusion as to who will assume the governorship caused by several differing legal points of view as to who is the rightful successor to the post which was left vacant after the death of Gov. Macias. Gov. Perdices finally takes over the rein of the Provincial Government by virtue of the law on succession as mandated under section 44 of the Local Government Code of the Philippines.

In his inaugural speech, Perdices said he was already very happy after being elected as vice governor of the province, but did not know God’s plans for him that eventually placed him in the highest position of the province.
